Emotional wellbeing has become more important in the last decade; infant mental health has also raised attention from the healthcare sector. Recent research shows that the first three years of life are the key stage for the development of children’s emotional brain.
Infants cannot regulate their emotions by themselves: they need your help. How the baby behaves depends on how the parent (or primary caregiver) behaves. British psychologist Bowlby introduced the attachment theory and argued that a close and secure relationship between the child and his/her birth mother is the foundation of his/her healthy development and it has life-long influences. He believes that when the child is securely attached to his/her mother, he/she will have adequate security and trust to form relationships with others, have confidence to explore the wider world and have the ability to regulate his/her emotions.
Baby Bonding not only strengthens the parent-infant relationship positively, but it also gives you skills to interact and communicate with your baby effectively. By behaving, responding and communicating with your baby appropriately and safely, you can help your baby’s emotional regulation and security, as well as their language, cognitive, physical and social development.
Pregnant Mums (third trimester onwards) and infants aged 1 or below can join the Baby Bonding session with their parent.
The Baby Bonding Course consists of 6 sessions. Please contact us for detailed information if you are interested.
